Autokontrol launches Drive-by-Wire speed limiter

Date: Monday, April 16, 2007

Road speed control system manufacturer Autokontrol is launching a tamper-proof Romatic DbW (Drive-by-Wire) speed limiter for vans, light trucks and minibuses. It's designed for vehicles fitted with an electronic accelerator pedal — ie without a mechanical throttle linkage — that are now coming on to the market in increasing numbers.

Operating in conjunction with the engine management system, it's a key part of the Oldham-based firm's response to the changes in UK speed limiter legislation announced earlier this year. They affect vans grossing at above 3.5-tonne and passenger-carrying vehicles with more than eight seats.

Romatic DbW should help lessen the likelihood of high-speed accidents, cut fuel costs by up to 20 per cent and lead to lower tyre and brake costs.

Autokontrol produces a wide range of speed limiters and they're all covered by a three-year/62,000 mile warranty. It provides a UK-wide fitting service.
