Volkswagen celebrates Transporter's 60th birthday

Date: Tuesday, September 11, 2007

It's been 60 years since the first Transporter was designed and Volkswagen is celebrating the fact with a huge international celebration at Germany's Hanover exhibition centre, not far from the VW production line.

Scheduled to take place from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 October, the festivities will include a convoy of historic Transporters, a vast display of Transporters from every decade and an open-air cinema with films featuring VW Transporter campers.

Prizes will be awarded for various categories of Transporter, including the oldest and the most attractive. A weekend ticket costs £17.50 per vehicle and there will be over 3,000 parking spaces.
