Volkswagen vans stand alone in Glasgow

Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2008

A brand new Verve Van Centre has been officially opened by Stephan Schaller, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. It represents an investment of £3m and is expected to create 20 new jobs.

Situated in the Glasgow Business Park in Baillieston it replaces the previous Van Centre which had outgrown its premises in Rutherglen, a site it shared with the VW passenger car franchise.

It features a ten-vehicle workshop equipped with the latest testing and diagnostic equipment and fully trained staff. There is also a spacious showroom to demonstrate VW’s range of vans, people-carriers, or even the California camper, plus a range of Volkswagen Assured Used vans.  Verve offers its customers courtesy vehicles if theirs is off the road and will shortly be introducing the flexible option of Volkswagen Van Rental.

“It is an honour to be here with my colleague Harald Schomburg, board member for sales and marketing,” commented Schaller. “At the moment, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is number one in Europe with a total market share of 16 per cent, but this is only possible with a strong dealer network, fighting lowering business confidence with customer orientation every day.”

Verve was founded by Charlie Adair ten years ago and has seen sales of commercial vehicles increase from 64 in the first year to 650 in 2007. Click here to go to the Verve Van Centre web site for more information.
