Caddy Maxi sets Transeurasia record

Date: Monday, November 9, 2009

A Volkswagen Caddy Maxi has set a new record by travelling 9,630 miles non-stop along the Transeurasia route from Portugal’s Atlantic coast to Russia’s Pacific coast.

It took eight days, 13 hours and 30 minutes and involved tackling 3,000 miles of appalling Russian roads. At least the vehicle used was fitted with 4Motion all-wheel drive, to be made available on Caddy and Caddy Maxi vans sold in the UK from 2010 onwards.

The progress of drivers Matthias Gottenauer and Andreas Renz was monitored and measured via GPS.
