Electronic gizmo solves van tacho problems

Date: Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Vans that need to be fitted with a digital tachograph to, say, tow a heavy trailer legally, but cannot accept one, have been rescued by VDO.

It has come up with an electronic adaptor that allows the tacho to be installed. The use of such an adaptor has been accepted by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency says the company.

VDO is supplying the adaptor complete with its latest DTCO 1381 (Rel. 1.3) tachograph, said to be capable of downloading data rapidly. The VDO brand is owned by tyres and automotive components giant Continental.
