Extended load bed and more power for L200

Date: Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Mitsubishi has introduced new variants of its L200 4x4 double cab pick-up featuring a load bed extended by 180mm and a power output of 176hp on the high-specification models.

Designated as Long Bed, the newcomers retain the same cab space as the current models, but the rear of the load bed sidewalls are higher and squarer. Overall vehicle length increases to 5,180mm, with the wheelbase remaining unchanged. Due to limited supply, initially only 4Work, 4Life, Warrior and Animal specification models are available.

As well as the additional load length and the redesigned rear end, the latter two variants also get an upgraded version of the standard 134hp 2.5-litre turbodiesel providing 176hp and developing 400Nm of peak torque, making them the most powerful off-the-shelf pick-ups available in the UK.

The Long Bed body adds £750 to the price of the Standard Bed equivalent and the upgraded engine an additional £250.
