Haas tools up with Vito

Date: Monday, August 3, 2009

Machine tool supplier Haas Automation has just acquired 18 Mercedes-Benz Vito 115CDI Dualiners for use by its out-based mobile service engineers.

Fitted with 150hp diesels and five-speed automatic gearboxes, the newcomers are scattered as far afield as Southampton and Worcester. Because they are Dualiners, with a second row of seats, glazed sliding side doors and a cargo area at the rear, the engineers can use them as family transport.

Sourced through local dealership Orwell Truck & Van, the Norwich-based company’s latest acquisitions replace an earlier batch of Vito Dualiners which were in service for three years. The Haas fleet also includes a Sprinter 311CDI which is used for jobs requiring a bigger stock of parts or equipment.

Elsewhere, four Vito 109CDIs and three Sprinter 311CDIs have gone into service with Gateshead-based Automatic Retail Vending. Their drivers replenish vending machines at factories, schools, colleges and hospitals among other locations and the vans were supplied through local dealer Bell Truck & Van.
