Peugeot Bipper key factor at Kevin Cooper

No less than 30 Peugeot Bipper vans are now in service with motor parts wholesaler Kevin Cooper Motor Factors. With 17 branches scattered across the South West, the Plymouth-based company reckons that it has cut its fuel bills by around 40 per cent as a result of acquiring them.

The diesel Bippers are all averaging 50mpg to 55mpg compared with the 30mpg to 35mpg returned by the previous Ford fleet, it reports. What’s more, the Bippers have enough carrying capacity to satisfy the firm’s requirements.

“The largest component we carry is an exhaust system for a full-sized panel van,” says company accountant, Pat Newport. “We can fit that in thanks to Bipper’s Multi-Flex front passenger seat, which folds flat to the floor. “It enables us to slide in long loads up as far as the dashboard,” he adds. The drivers like Bipper too, says the company.

Covering up to 23,000 miles apiece annually, the Bippers were supplied through Peugeot dealership Renwicks of Plymouth under a three-year contract hire agreement.

Bipper was voted What Van?’s Van of the Year last autumn along with Citroën’s Nemo and Fiat’s Fiorino. All three vehicles share the same basic design.
