Renault unveils electric Kangoo prototype

In an indication of the sort of technology that might be appearing in Kangoo van soon, Renault has unveiled a concept electric Kangoo car.

 

Fitted with lithium ion batteries and regenerative braking to help keep them topped up, the Kangoo be bop Z.E. (Zero Emission) is driven by a 44kW electric motor. It is said to have a range of 100km; just over 60 miles.


The battery pack can be completely recharged in six to eight hours, says Renault, with a fast-charge facility available that can replenish its capacity to the tune of 80 per cent in 30 minutes.


The manufacturer aims to have electric vehicles available in volume from 2011 onwards.
