Van sales stronger at Manheim

Date: Thursday, February 5, 2009

Auctioneer Manheim reports keen interest in used vans, with attendance at sales up despite the dire economic climate. Prices realised in January were in many cases stronger than in December, although trading in the latter month was of course affected by the onset of the festive season.

A Vauxhall Astravan Sportive on a 06 plate with 90,000 miles recorded sold for £2,500, nearly £500 more than was bid on the same van in December. A Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9 CDTI on a 55 plate with 45,000 miles on the clock went for £4,350 in January having failed to attract any interest in the previous month. A Nissan Navara Outlaw double-cab (55 plate, 41,000 miles) sold for £7,300.

“I am pleased and encouraged by the strong start to the year,” says Alex Wright, sales director, commercial vehicles, at Manheim Auctions.
