Bevan boys fulfil drinks order

Bodybuilder Bevan Group has equipped two new Isuzu 7.5-tonners operated by family-owned drinks distributor Nectar with fast-access curtain slider bodies.

The first of their type that Bevan has constructed, they feature curtains that are tensioned from front to back rather than from top to bottom as on a conventional curtainsider. With locks at both ends, and no time-consuming straps and buckles to wrestle with, drivers can slide back the curtains concertina-fashion in seconds to gain access to the load. That’s a useful facility if you happen to be on multi-drop work. Nectar’s drivers make up to 25 deliveries daily.

With a frame, side raves and various other components made from aluminium, the body is light in weight. That’s good news when it comes to payload capacity and the new Isuzus can carry almost 4.0 tonnes. Also good news is the fact that the curtains feature reinforced pockets destined to resist the attentions of thieves and vandals.

Wiltshire-based Nectar operates nine trucks. All 7.5-tonners, they deliver across the south of England to upmarket hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs as well as to private individuals. “We can’t run anything bigger because we need our vehicles to be sufficiently compact and manoeuvrable to get to the premises of our customers,” says managing director, Fiona Jukes.
