Euro 5 Corsavan turns green

Date: Thursday, August 12, 2010

Vauxhall’s Corsavan ecoFLEX, its first van to include a Start/Stop system combined with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), is now on sale.

The new Euro 5-compliant 1.3-litre 75hp diesel — peak torque is up by 20Nm to 190Nm — has official combined cycle fuel consumption figures of 70.6mpg, a 12 per cent improvement on its Euro 4 predecessor. The engine upgrade also means CO2 emissions are down by 14g/km to 105g/km.

According to Vauxhall drivers who use their vans in congested city streets, where the Corsavan’s Start/Stop function will come into its own, will see the biggest gains in fuel consumption, with an official urban figure of 58.9mpg.

Corsavan ecoFLEX adds £220 to the cost of the equivalent Euro 5 models without the ‘green’ technology.
