Major order for Crafter tippers

Date: Thursday, May 6, 2010

Seventy-one Volkswagen Crafter tippers are joining Quadron Services. The specialist horticultural and ground maintenance services provider is using them on contracts with local authorities in the Midlands and London.

Bodied by Telford-based Ingimex, each of the vehicles has been ordered with a tow-bar. Supplied through Croydon dealer Southern Motor Group, and leased under an agreement with HSBC Fleet Management, they’re scheduled to cover around 15,000 miles annually apiece over the next five years. Thereafter Quadron looks set to purchase them outright and run them for a further five years.

Crafter’s certification as an Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle, the most exacting exhaust emission standard for commercials, was a major influencing factor in Quadron’s acquisition decision. “Our local authority clients are extremely environmentally aware and require us to show the environmental credentials of any vehicles we use,” says fleet manager, Chris Davies.
