Peugeot’s Partner gets a grip

Date: Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Peugeot’s Partner can now be ordered with a Grip Control enhanced traction system for use when driving on snowy/muddy surfaces or on sand. It’s up for grabs on L1 HDi 90 850kg van and crew van models in both S and SE trim as part of Peugeot’s All Terrain Option Pack.

Grip Control optimises the traction of both front wheels by using electronic controls incorporated in the vehicle’s Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). The system is more efficient and effective than a conventional mechanical limited slip differential says Peugeot.

Five operating modes are available for selection by the driver; standard, snow, all-terrain (which encompasses mud and wet grass) sand and ESP-off. The last-named allows ESP and Grip Control to be disconnected at up to 31mph. Thereafter the system reverts to standard mode.

As well as Grip Control the All Terrain pack comes complete with a protection tray for the underside of the engine and uprated 195/70R15 tyres.

Opt for it on S-specification models and you also get one-touch electric front windows, remote central locking and electric heated exterior mirrors. All these items are already standard on Partners in SE trim. As a consequence the All Terrain pack will set you back £750 on an S, but only £640 on an SE, plus VAT.

A similar pack is available on Citroën’s Berlingo 850 L1 1.6HDi 90hp LX or Enterprise vans.
