Racing Caddy gets RAC sponsorship

Date: Monday, February 8, 2010

What’s the fastest orange-coloured van in the world? Has to be Volkswagen’s racing Caddy TDI, now sponsored by the RAC and as a consequence finished in an eye-catching bright orange livery.

The Caddy will be competing in this year’s Volkswagen Racing Cup with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles director, Simon Elliott, at the wheel. He succeeds one-time VW vans boss, Peter Wyhinny.

“I started racing last year and realised that it was something I really wanted to do,” Elliott grins. “My wife has now given me permission to complete the full season.”

Tuned by RacingLine to produced a meaty 260hp and over 500Nm of torque from its 2.0-litre diesel engine, the Caddy is quick, no question about it. It makes its 2010 circuit debut at Oulton Park in Cheshire on 3 and 5 April, so watch out for it.
