Citroen launches Euro 5 Nemo

Date: Friday, January 21, 2011

Citroen has launched the new Euro 5 version of its Nemo small van, now one of the UK’s most economical light commercial vehicles.

The brand has introduced stop/start technology across the Nemo diesel versions to enhance emission and economy gains,

Commercial vehicle boss Robert Handyside said: “The new Euro 5 Nemo uses advanced technology to provide operational, financial, environmental and safety benefits. It now carries more while using less fuel and also has lower CO2 emissions.”

The Nemo line-up consists of a new 1.3HDi 75hp diesel unit, available in three trim levels, and a 1.4i 75hp petrol engine.

The diesel drivetrain, which will dominate sales, delivers a claimed 55.4mpg on the urban cycle – a 10.5% improvement on its Euro 4 predecessor. On the combined cycle consumption of 65.7mpg represents a gain of 4,4%.

At current diesel prices, Citroen said these improved efficiencies would provide a fuel cost saving of £230 per van over three years and 20,000 miles.

CO2 emissions in the Euro 5 Nemo diesel have dropped to 113g/km from the outgoing model’s 119g/km.

Payload has increased by 50kg to 660kg in the diesel derivatives. To reflect the extra load lugging capacity, the new models carry the 660 designation in diesel guise. The petrol version retains a payload 610kg.

Load volume has increased by 0.3cu/m to 2.8cu/m thanks to the Extenso folding passenger seat now fitted as standard. This feature also increases the load length alongside the driver by 968mm to 2491mm.

The new Nemo range, which Citroen is targeting at urban operators, is priced from £9,165, excluding VAT for the 1.4i petrol to £11,925, excluding VAT, for the Stop & Start 660 Enterprise HDi.
