Pick-ups pick up at BCA

Date: Monday, February 7, 2011

British Car Auctions has reported a “significant increase” in the value of 4x4 pick-ups in recent weeks with both lifestyle and workhorse examples performing strongly.

BCA Blackbushe offered 20 pick-ups for sale on behalf of the UK Car Group in late January and claims to have attracted strong interest from trade, small business and private buyers.

BCA’s commercial vehicle boss Duncan Ward said: “Well-specified 4x4s are in demand and examples with leather, satellite navigation, chrome trim, alloy wheels, metallic paint and popular extras like searchlight bars are making exceptional money.”

Ward said buyers were not deterred by age and high mileage so long as vehicles were in good condition.

Due to short supply, he said even base-level models had seen values rise sharply

Examples from the sale included a 59-plated Mitsubishi L200 Warrior with 7000 miles on the clock which sold for £13,950 (109% versus CAP clean) and a 56-plated Nissan Navara Adventura on 145,000 miles, which went for £6400 - 116% CAP clean
