BCA trials pre-sale van videos

British Car Auctions is thought to be the first remarketing company to offer pre-sale online video walk-arounds for LCV auctions.
The firm has been trialling the service at four locations with leasing giant Lex Autolease and expects to roll-out the service formally later this year.
Commenting on the number and quality of still images available for vehicles ahead of a sale, BCA’s commercial director D’Vidis Jacobs said: “We have no evidence that better quality images earlier in the process would improve the sale price. We think this is due to the level of experience buyers have. They know what they’re looking at.
“However, we’ve been trialling videos because the condition varies so much. We use HD video and have four sites using it.”
He added that van specification, such as racking, also varied a great deal and a video gave the fastest, most accurate way of showing

this information.
The video appraisals also enable viewers to scroll quickly though the footage if they want to see a particular aspect of a
light commercial.
A BCA spokesman added: “At present, video appraisals are available for LCVs from Lex Autolease at BCA Manchester Belle Vue Commercials, Measham Commercials, Blackbushe and Glasgow auction centres.”
