No quick fix for used van supply shortage

The supply shortage that has opened up in the used light commercial sector could take years to flush through the system, according to automotive expert Professor Peter Cooke, writing in the BCA’s The Used Car Market Report 2013. He said the slump in new sales triggered by the 2008 recession had created a shortage of younger used vans of around 300,000 units, upsetting the historical balance between supply and demand, and warned there was no quick fix.
