Renault chills out with launch of tiny electric van

Date: Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Renault has announced the launch of a single-seat electric compact commercial vehicle.

Priced £6242 with battery hire from £36 a month – both prices exclude VAT, Renault has dubbed the Twizy Cargo both the world’s coolest LCV and a car-derived van, an accurate description in that it is basically the two-seat Twizy passenger car with the rear seat removed to create a 0.2m3 load space with a payload of 75kg.

The boot opens to 90 degrees and is accessible from the cabin’s lockable door.

Renault said Twizy Cargo has a real-world range of around 50 miles. It can be topped up with charge by using a standard three-pin plug, by way of the in-built charging cable. Full charge takes three and a half hours and costs about £1, according to Renault.
