The extra-long Transit L5

Ford unveiled a Business Edition concept of the Transit Custom’s passenger carrying variant, the Tourneo Custom at the CV Show.

Featuring rear climate control and four ‘captain’s chair’ seats in the rear, the central pair of which can swivel to either face forwards or rearwards for a summit-style layout, the concept also has 18-inch alloys, chrome side bars and LED interior lighting.

Ford will assess the reaction with a view to launching a model next year - it would sit above the Tourneo Custom Titanium model.

Ford also used the CV Show to spotlight its new Transit L5 model (pictured), which in Birmingham features a five-metre putting green to highlight the length of the model, which is aimed at businesses needing to carry lengthy items like piping or scaffolding. “It’s a niche product but it completes the range,” Transit product manager Dave Petts told What Van?

Also at the show, but on the stand of supplier VFS, was the first double chassis cab utility Transit in the country, featuring rear doors covered off for the likes of landscapers that need a flatbed but also need to securely store tools, rather than a second row for passengers.
