New MAN boss to take over in February 2017

Date: Thursday, December 15, 2016   |

Following the recent announcement that Simon Elliot, the erstwhile UK managing director of Volkswagen-owned CV manufacturer MAN, will be leaving the business in January 2017, Thomas Hemmerich has been named as his successor.

Set to take the reigns in February 2017, Hemmerich – who has been with MAN since 2003 – is currently the managing director of MAN’s Austrian operations. When he takes over, he’ll be in charge of the launch of the company’s first LCV – the TGE van – in the UK. Set to arrive next Autumn, the TGE will be based on parent company Volkswagen’s Crafter light commercial vehicle.

Announcing his appointment Jean-Yves Kerbrat, MAN senior vice-president head of region western Europe, said: “Thomas has a wide range of experience that will stand him in good stead in the UK and, most importantly, he is looking forward to the challenge.”

On the new challenge ahead, Hemmerich noted: “I am looking forward to working in the UK and I relish the challenges that lie ahead.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to lead MAN Truck & Bus UK, there is huge potential here and I know I will be building on a strong platform.

“The launch of the MAN TGE will bring more to our range and it is a very exciting time to be joining the company.”
