The Vauxhall Vivaro has been named as Glass’s Used Van Hero for June.

Each month, the used value expert names a model it believes offers versatility, economy and outstanding value for money, and for the start of summer it picked Vauxhall’s medium van.

Glass’s cited the vehicle’s “solid feel”, “comfortable cab” and its manufacturer’s “large dealer network” among the reasons for choosing the Vivaro, while Andy Picton, chief commercial vehicle editor at Glass’s, added: “Strong economical engines fitted to the current range together with a good-size payload area are attractive benefits.”

According to Glass’s, those looking for a second-hand Vivaro won’t have any problems finding one, but before rushing off to take advantage of the “good finance offers” that are available, the company pointed out that there are some issues with the gearboxes on older generations of the vehicle and that potential buyers should also check “for a service history with high-mileage examples”.

In terms of specific variants, Picton said that “Sportive models in colour and with plenty of extras are seen as good value for money compared to some of the more expensive competition”, while Glass’s named its ideal used Vivaro as being a 120hp 1.6 CDTI Sportive 2700 L1 H1 on a 15/64 plate with 23,000 miles on the clock. That model comes with a retail price of £11,725 and trade cost of £9,850.
