Vauxhall to pre-install Masternaut telematics devices

Fleet telematics company Masternaut has announced it will provide data to commercial fleets running Vauxhall vans.

From this month, businesses will be able to buy vans pre-installed with Masternaut’s black boxes, which the firm said will save time and negate the hassle of having the system installed at a later date.

“The telematics industry has witnessed impressive growth in recent years, but many companies still want easier installation. Despite its proven benefits, telematics is still only installed in a tenth of European commercial vehicles. We are proud to partner with Vauxhall to bring Masternaut’s leading technology to market in a simple and efficient way,” said Dhruv Parekh, CEO of Masternaut.

Fleet managers will be able to analayse the data using the firm’s Connect system, which can show timesheets, routes used and driver behaviour reports, while an in-cab driver feedback tool can be added at a cost (which varies on the size of the fleet), which Masternaut claimed can cut instances of speeding by up to 70%.

“The device provides read-only access to all vehicle data, providing our customers much richer insights than other telematics devices offer. We were also impressed with Masternaut’s Connect platform, which is intuitive and easy-to-use,” said Steffen Raschig, director of commercial vehicles at Vauxhall and Opel.
