Ford has added the Ranger pick-up to its scrappage scheme

Ford is to extend its scrappage scheme from the end of the year until 31 March 2018 and has now included the Ranger pick-up truck within the offer alongside its range of Transit-branded vans.

Ford provides a scrappage payment of £2,000 across the board to customers exchanging their pre-Euro 5 vehicles but claimed savings of up to £7,000, all prices exclude VAT, are available (on a new Transit van) by adding on incentives tailored to each model range.

The manufacturer claimed customers could also benefit from savings of £5,500 on a Transit Custom, £5,000 on a Transit Connect £3,650 on a Transit Courier and now £2,750 on a new Ranger by combining the standard £2,000 scrappage payment for all old models plus the manufacturer’s incentives.

Ford claimed more than 10,5000 vehicles have been scrapped and replaced with cleaner, more fuel-efficient models since the initiative began at the end of August.

The brand has bucked the trend in an LCV market that declined by 4.1% year-on-year in the first 11 months of 2017 to 334,133 units, according to the SMMT, by growing sales by 2.0% to 108,525 – increasing its market share from 30.5% to 32.0% in the process.

Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director said: “We continue to carry strong sales momentum as we more towards the end of the year. Our CV sales growth was particularly positive in an increasingly challenging market.”

Four of the UK’s top 10 selling LCVs in the year-to-date bear the brand’s blue oval badge – The Transit Custom, Transit, Transit Connect and Ranger.
