Mercedes-Benz’s debut pick-up model the X-Class will cost from £27,310 (all prices exclude VAT) for the entry-level X220 d4Matic six-speed manual Pure when it arrives in showrooms in January 2018.

The six-speed manual X220d 4Matic in the mid-spec Progressive trim will cost £28,510 while the seven-speed auto will be available from £30,510 for the X250 Progressive, with the flagship auto X250 Power priced from £34,100.

All UK vehicles are double-cabs and come with 4Matic selectable all-wheel drive and low-range, drive selection mode, plus double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.

The 2.3-litre diesel engine that powers the range is offered with two outputs: 163hp in the X220 or 190hp in the X250.

Standard safety kit across the line-up includes active brake assist, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign assist, hill-start assist, reversing camera, anti-theft protection package, stop/start and ESP, to which trailer assist can be added as an option.

The entry-level Pure model is only available with the six-speed manual transmission 220d 4Matic engine. It comes with halogen headlights and a radiator grille with matt black finish.

Inside gets a manually adjustable driver and passenger seat in fabric upholstery, with a storage compartment in the centre console. It also includes semi-auto aircon.

Priced £1,200 above Pure, Progressive models are available with both engines. The mid trim comes with aluminium door sills featuring ‘Mercedes-Benz’ lettering, chrome door handles, load-securing rail system, heated exterior mirrors, and a radiator grille. Inside is adorned with fabric upholstery and an aluminium trim, an automatic dimming interior mirror with integrated compass function, illuminated sun visors, lighting for the front footwell and exit lamps, and chrome air vents.

The top-of-the-range Power is a £3,500 step up from Progressive and is available with the 250d 4Matic engine only. The extra cost brings fog lights with chrome surround, LED headlights with cleaning system, LED tail lights, electrically folding exterior mirrors, and Keyless Go start function. The interior features eight-way electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats, with leather upholstery.

A wide range of options are up for grabs, including a differential lock for the rear axle to enhance off-road capabilities in mud, sand or snow for £495, while increased ground clearance of 20mm can be added for £220.
