Government grants for plug-in vans are to continue at the same rates until at least the end of April, while ministers consider any potential changes.

The scheme is set to continue in some form until 2020, as was previously announced in November’s Budget, however the rates had only been confirmed to the end of this month.

A spokesperson for the Department for Transport said: “The current grant rates will be maintained until at least the end of April.

“We are conducting a review at present and more information will be available in due course.”

The current grant rate for vans includes vehicles which have CO2 emissions of less than 75g/km and can travel at least 10 miles without any CO2 emissions at all.

The grant will pay 20% of the purchase price for these vehicles, up to a maximum of £8,000.

Eligible vehicles include the BD Otomotiv eTraffic, BD Otomotiv eDucato, Citroen Berlingo, Mitsubishi Outlander Commercial, Nissan e-NV200 cargo van, Peugeot ePartner, Renault Kangoo ZE, and the LDV EV80 van and chassis cab.
