Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall have been named the joint winners of the International Van of the Year for their new light vans.

The Partner-Berlingo-Combo trio convincingly claimed the award with a total of 127 points while the second-placed Mercedes-Benz Sprinter scored 92 points. Third place was awarded to the Ford Transit Connect, which received 33 votes from the panel of 25 IVOTY jury members.

The victory is the second IVOTY win for Peugeot-Citroen’s light van, it having previously won the award in 1997 for the first-generation model. The two manufacturers have also won on three other occasions for their mid-sized and compact vans.

Vauxhall-Opel has previously tasted success in the competition for its Astravan and Vivaro, but this is the first victory for the newly united three-manufacturer PSA Group.

The Judges praised the distinctive individual designs of the three vans, the comfortable and enjoyable driving experience, as well as new innovations for the sector including the overload indicator.
