SsangYong has taken the wraps off its new Musso pick-up.

Based on the Rexton SUV, the new Musso has a one-tonne payload, and a 3.5-tonne towing capability.

It has a five-seat crew cab body style, with a load deck capable of carrying a full-sized Euro pallet.

The cargo area also comes equipped with 12V/120W power outlets and rotating hooks to help strap-down loads.

Power comes from a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The engine produces 181hp and 420nm of torque.

Official combined fuel economy figures are 35.8mpg for the manual and 32.8mpg for the automatic, and CO2 emissions are 211g/km and 226g/km respectively.

The vehicle, which has been launched at the Geneva Motor Show, features a part time four-wheel drive system, with power delivered permanently to the rear wheels, and front-wheel drive triggered electronically as required.

The new Musso’s interior offers leather seats on top-of-the-range models, and DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity across the range.

Flagship models get heated front seats, which are also ventilated.

All but entry-level models get an infotainment system featuring an 8in screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wi-fi mirroring.

Other features include electric windows, air conditioning with fine dust filters and up to six airbags.

The new Musso is set to arrive in the UK this summer, and will be available with SsangYong’s five-year limitless mileage warranty.

Full specifications and prices are yet to be confirmed.
