UK van electrification behind schedule, BVRLA members say

The UK is behind schedule in its plans to end the sale of new combustion-engined LCVs in 2030.
That’s according to BVRLA members, who were quizzed on the topic by the rental and leasing industry body in its latest Industry Outlook survey.
This found that 93% of respondents thought that the UK was behind schedule on its 2030 target.
The BVRLA, whose members buy more than half the new commercial vehicles sold in the UK each year, said the roadmap for electric and hydrogen CVs would be among the subjects discussed at its upcoming Fleets in Charge Conference on 20 September.
Chief executive Gerry Keaney said: “The fleet sector has always led the way in adopting new technologies and bringing cleaner, greener vehicles to our roads.
“The diverse nature of the commercial vehicle sector means that there is no silver bullet when it comes to decarbonisation. A range of solutions are required to meet what are often unique use cases.”
