Manheim claims online sale breakthrough

Manheim claims to have broken new ground by holding the UK’s first exclusively online auction for LCVs.
The sale, which took place in August, offered 102 Lex Autolease vans to a virtual audience of buyers. Manheim’s Online Bruntingthorpe team delivered the auction, which saw 125 buyers log on and achieved an 89% conversion rate that amounted to a sales value of almost £500,000.
Buyers assessed the vans through viewing inspection reports and zoom imagery rather than by watching them being driven by the rostrum. They also received a live audio and video feed of the auctioneer conducting the sale and benefited from Manheim’s Van Check, a 21 point mechanical inspection package that provides buyers with a money-back guarantee.
James Davis (pictured), Manheim’s CV boss, said: “I’ve no doubt our industry will look back in years to come and acknowledge this online sales result as a significant milestone in the history of van remarketing.”
