ADV Manufacturing will be responsible for the final assembly of Nissan’s new taxi for London, which is based on the Barcelona-built NV200 van.

Following a joint investment of £6m with Nissan, the firm will create a dedicated taxi manufacturing facility next to its existing factory in Coventry.

The first of the NV200 taxis are set to hit the capital’s streets in December this year.

The taxi conversion includes new bodywork, interior refit and revised suspension and steering.

Nissan unveiled the final design of an electric variant of the black cab in London earlier this year prior to its launch in 2015.

British Gas has revealed that it opted to use the e-NV200 in a trial of 28 electric vans on its home service fleet because the model has larger payload and load space capacities than rival electric vans.
