Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced a Crafter Luton model to its Engineered-to-Go conversion range.

Designed in partnership with leading bodybuilder Ingimex, the new Luton combines a load volume of 17m3 with an internal loading height of 2120mm. It  has a payload capacity of 1156kg.

It is powered by VW’s 2.0-litre TDI engine with a choice of 136 or 163hp power outputs, priced at £32,470 and £33,380 respectively, excluding VAT.

The long-wheelbase Luton is based on the CR35 Crafter chassis and covered by a three-year warranty that includes factory-fitted add-ons as standard. Constructed using GRP sides and bulkhead and a dip-painted and powder coated bolted frame, the finished bodies are modified for the addition of a tail-lift.

The ready-made conversion comes equipped with standard features such as a four-tier load restraint system, a high-strength shutter and rear foot step.

The bodies also contain a reinforced bottom plank to protect against movement of unsecured loads.

VW said the new Luton conversion, in common with the rest of the Engineered-to-Go line-up, meets the latest European standards, and has been designed and engineered to meet Volkswagen’s strict quality and durability controls.

Andrew Waite, head of sales for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “We have teamed up with one of the best conversion specialists to design our new Luton Crafter. It combines all the usual Crafter qualities of reliability, ease of use and low running costs, and adds an incredible load space for even greater practicality.”

Crafter Engineered-to-Go models are available from £299 a month on contract hire or on finance lease terms with a £1000 initial rental contribution through Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Finance.
