Geotab is a world leader in the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected transportation and the number one global telematics provider for three years running, according to ABI Research.  

Since its establishment in 2000, Geotab has grown from a small family business to a global leader in fleet management solutions and vehicle tracking. Today, it says its customers generate more than 55 billion data points every day, from GPS position, speed, engine information, idling, distance and fuel usage. 

Geotab prides itself on a relentless focus on research and development. Its most recent advancement arrived with the introduction of the Geotab GO9 series, its plug-in device unlocking telematics for fleet operators. The device is tiny – but Geotab claims it provides a colossal leap forward for fleet operators.  

Geotab’s GO devices track more than 100 million miles driven by vans and vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Immediately upon activation, the device starts recording rich data on GPS position, speed, engine information, idling, distance, fuel usage, and much more – with end-to-end security throughout. With more than three million cloud-connected vehicles enabled around the world providing data-driven analytics and insights to businesses, access to this data can be transformational for fleet operations. 

Underpinning Geotab’s offering is MyGeotab: the web-based fleet management platform that is available to all Geotab customers. For fleets of any size, uniting all vehicle insights and data in one single place is a game changer in ensuring quicker, more informed decision making—from operational optimisation to robust vehicle maintenance monitoring. MyGeotab provides operators with a customisable and expandable foundation for managing their fleets. The platform is available through a device-agnostic, accessible web interface in ten languages, together with mobile apps for iOS and Android. 

Through MyGeotab operators can analyse driver behaviours with real-time, in-vehicle feedback. Customers can set up rules to mitigate unwanted driver behaviours such as speeding, idling, or not wearing a seatbelt. Beyond alert generation within the MyGeotab platform, this can extend to the vehicle itself with audible alerts or spoken words within the cabin, providing immediate feedback to the driver to take corrective action.   

Integrated into MyGeotab is the Geotab Marketplace: an ‘app store’ of sorts, enabling users to customise their MyGeotab experience to fit their needs.

This year LEVC embarked on a new partnership with Geotab to deploy its fleet management within its VN5 Vans. Data flows from the vehicle’s on-board electronic systems into the cloud directly to the MyGeotab dashboard, providing insights on battery state of charge, mileage trends, driver styles and behaviours, maximum speeds, and vehicle utilisation levels, which can all be accessed both in real-time and after events.  

LEVC uses MyGeotab to generate a ‘driver scorecard’, so drivers and operators alike can better understand how vehicle usage can be optimised and where targeted coaching can help in avoiding distractions or potential collisions.

VisionTrack’s innovative video telematics solutions provide context to road incidents and driver behaviour events, supporting meaningful interventions. They are helping fleets from a wide range of industry sectors to protect drivers, improve road safety and cut costs.
For example, Speedy Services is using AI dashcams to monitor driver distraction – such as mobile phone use, smoking and eating – and fatigue. This is helping the company to understand fatigue within the fleet operation and prevent related incidents.
