JAMES DALLAS'S BLOG: Toyota rebrand

Date: Wednesday, August 14, 2019

When people think about Toyota’s vehicles what first springs to mind is likely to be either the ‘indestructible’ Hilux pick-up truck or a hybrid-powered passenger car, such as the Prius.

The brand has for a long time struggled to establish itself as a mainstream player in the van market, although it has also given the impression that, apart from the aforementioned Hilux, light commercial vehicles were not high on its list of priorities.

Rebranding its LCV division as ‘Toyota Professional’, however, sends out a clear message that the manufacturer is nowgetting serious about vans.

Its partnership with the PSA Group is bearing fruit.

The medium-sized Proace, which is based on the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert, has been well received, and another PSA-based product, the Proace City, this time aligned with the Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner, will see it enter the light van sector for the first time.
