Long Term Test: Renault Master Sport

Date: Tuesday, May 22, 2012

The loud and insistent beeping that emanates from our long-term Master’s satellite navigation system every time we go anywhere near a speed camera is an irritant, but a welcome one, says Steve Banner

A licence preserver, it ensures that we don’t go sailing past one of those ubiquitous roadside boxes at too high a speed only to be rewarded by that tell-tale flash in the rear view mirrors, and a sense of impending doom.
There’s quite a risk of that happening given the level of performance the Master has on tap, especially when lightly laden, and how quietly and smoothly it is delivered. As we discovered in a recent long run from Ross-on-Wye to the Cummins diesel engine plant in Darlington, it would be all too easy to allow the speedo needle to start creeping above the legal limit.
