Caddy to get Sportline boost

Date: Monday, September 1, 2008

Volkswagen Caddy customers who want a van with the same upmarket specifications as the Transporter Sportline won't have much longer to wait. Caddy and Caddy Maxi Sportlines should be on sale by the end of the year, both powered by the 140hp diesel.
Expect alloy wheels, low-profile tyres, a fancy paint finish, a body kit and lots of leather inside the cab. Prices have yet to be announced.

Environmentally-conscious operators who might be minded to recoil from such extravagance are being catered for too. The BlueMotion Caddy (pictured at this year's CV Show) is set to debut in the UK in mid-2009 and possibly a few months earlier than that.

Changes to the aerodynamics, the tyres used and the way in which the engine management system is mapped should all result in lower fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.

Things are set to get even busier at VW Van Centres come 2010. That's the year the Toyota Hilux/Ford Ranger-rivalling Robust pick-up will be launched — and the new Transporter should be going on sale too.
