Dacia launches Logan van

Date: Thursday, February 8, 2007

Not due for the UK yet, but likely to appear here at some point in the future, is Renault-controlled Dacia's Logan van.

A competitor for Volkswagen's Caddy, Citroën's Berlingo and Renault's own Kangoo, the Logan van can handle an 800kg payload and boasts a 2.5m3 cargo area. Maximum load length is 1,936mm.

Car-derived, it has hinged rather than sliding side doors, and asymmetrically split twin side-hinged rear doors. Power comes courtesy of a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine and either a 1.4- or a 1.6-litre petrol engine, all from the Renault stable.

Built in Romania, it will initially go on sale in its home market and in Bulgaria within the next few weeks. It will start to debut in other countries towards the end of this year, but is not expected to reach the UK until 2008 at the earliest.
