Groundbreaking deal for Sprinter

Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009

Leading supplier of suction excavation services MB Groundbreaking has taken delivery of five Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 311CDIs. They were sourced through Stoke-on-Trent dealership Enza.

Four of them are Long chassis cabs equipped with dropside bodies built by Commercial Body Specialists of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, while the fifth is a Medium-bodied panel van. They’re lining up alongside 15 Sprinters already acquired by the company plus a Mercedes-Benz Vito as part of a 70-strong mixed marque fleet dominated by the Three Pointed Star.

The dropsides are employed as support vehicles for excavating teams, removing waste material and transporting equipment such as barriers, cones and fencing sheets. The new van has been allocated to a service engineer.

Suction excavators are used to expose underground pipes and cables while minimising the risk that they’ll suffer damage. MB typically runs its Sprinters for seven years and they usually cover around 200,000 miles each during that time.
