New generation Fiesta Van goes on sale

Date: Friday, March 20, 2009

Ford has announced prices and specifications for its new Fiesta Van, with the light commercial vehicle version of the award-winning new supermini starting at £9,025 and topping out at £10,780.

The all-new range consists of three engines choices and three trim levels. The 68hp 1.4-litre diesel, 90hp 1.6-litre diesel and 82hp 1.3-litre petrol are available in Standard and Trend trim levels, with the most powerful diesel being reserved for the range-topping SportVan version.

Trend models get front fog lights, power-folding body-coloured door mirrors, trip computer and auto lights and wipers as part of the extra kit over the Standard trim, while the Sportvan adds a body kit, alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, air con, sports seats, additional airbags and ESP anti-skid control.

Payload ranges from 490 to 515kg and a half-height composite bulkhead is standard on all models, along with tie-rings in the load area. Ford claims a 1.0m3 load volume, with a 1,296mm maximum load length, a 1,278mm width — dropping to 1,000mm between the wheelboxes — and a 806mm load height.

"Fiestavan is a main player in the car-derived van market with around 25 per cent of all sales," said Ford commercial vehicle boss Steve Kimber. "We expect to build on this as more and more of today's businesses look to keep their costs under control."

According to Ford, the petrol engine can achieve fuel economy of 49.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 133g/km, while both diesels are at 67.3mpg and 110g/km.
