Rubber firm bounces back for another Canter

Date: Monday, June 29, 2009

With rubber matting and flooring for horseboxes and stables among its portfolio of products, Rubber Manufacturing Services (RMS) was so pleased with its first Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 3.5-tonner that it’s replaced it with another one.

The Elworth, Sandbach, Cheshire-based firm’s latest acquisition is a long-wheelbase 3C15 fitted with an aluminium dropside body courtesy of Boalloy Fastruck of Congleton. Supplied through dealer Enza, the newcomer is equipped with optional air-conditioning and reversing sensors.

The Canter is now being used to deliver products throughout the Midlands and the North of England. “It gives us a 1.5-tonne payload which it carries with ease,” says RMS director, Scott Raybould. “Going for the long wheelbase means we’ve been able to opt for a 13ft body on which we can carry two pallets of mats. Each pallet is 6ft long end-to-end. Most 3.5-tonners are not really rugged enough for what we need,” he adds. “But the Canter is a proper little truck.”
