Ford wins Thatcham Green Van award

Date: Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Thatcham, the insurance industry’s widely-respected research centre, has made Ford’s Fiesta SportVan the first winner of its Green Van award.

The pocket-sized load-lugger drove away with the accolade as a consequence of its environmental credentials — CO2 emissions are set at 110g/km — and the stress placed on security.

Thatcham praised the quality of the locks and lock mountings fitted along with the use of a Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) immobiliser. Its installation means that only a pre-programmed key can start the engine.

“Ford’s success shows an ongoing commitment to designing out crime, reducing the risk to insurers and the motoring public,” says Thatcham vehicle security manager, Mike Briggs.
