VW launches special edition Multivan

Date: Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Volkswagen has launched a special edition van to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the introduction of its first multivan, which was badged the Caravelle in the UK.

Unveiled at the Hanover Commercial Vehicle Show, the Multivan Edition25 is based on a top-spec Caravelle, and features a matt-black roof, black 18-inch alloys and black exterior trimmings including driver and passenger door handles, B-pillar and sills. Leather steering wheel, eight-speaker stereo and DAB radio join height-adjustable front seats and a host of equipment including lane-change assist, auto-dimming rear view mirror and automatic wipers as standard kit on the German show vehicle, although there’s no confirmation yet about the UK application.
“The Multivan 25 fits with our Sportline strategy – we’ll look at doing something provided the price is right and it’s available in right-hand drive,” VW’s UK commercial vehicle boss Simon Elliott told What Van?
The new Transporter Sportline should arrive in the UK next spring, following the base model’s revisions earlier this year.
VW also showed a more off-road-friendly version of the Transporter.
