Fuel card supplier Allstar took the opportunity at the CV Show to promote the latest products it has launched as it continues to broaden its range of services beyond its core business.

The Fleetcor-owned company claims its online service, maintenance and repair scheme, Service Point, which it introduced last year, gives customers access to a network of 9,000 franchised and independent garages and delivers typical savings of 30% through Allstar’s pre-arranged labour and parts rates.

As an example it claimed a Service Point customer would benefit from a £376 saving on a three year/60,000 service on a 2.0-litre TDi Volkswagen Crafter requiring new brake pads and clutch compared to a franchised dealer’s walk in rates.

Through Service Point Allstar said fleets can book SMR work or MOTs, manage invoices and view service histories and either liaise directly with the workshop or call on Allstar’s booking line to make the arrangements. Customers can also sign up for service, tax and insurance reminders.

With its new Allstar Plus card developed in partnership with Visa, the company is venturing into the realm of the credit card with a hybrid fuel and travel expense service tailored for the needs of individual customers. The product contains credit limits and, unlike a normal bank card, spend categories imposed so, for example, it could cover rail travel and hotel accommodation only. The card includes a 44-day payment limit on spend.
