Ford unveils personalised Transit Custom models

Date: Thursday, December 1, 2016   |

Ford has revealed two new variants of its one-tonne Transit Custom van, aimed at those want to stand out from the crowd.

According to Ford, demand for distinctive Transit derivatives has continued to grow since the Sport Van was introduced 11 years ago. Sales of the current Transit Custom Sport are up by 52% in the first 10 months of the year compared with the same period in 2015, Ford has claimed.

“Many of our retail customers are no longer satisfied with a standard white van, and these stunning new vehicles provide the perfect solution,” said Hans Schep, general manager of commercial vehicles at Ford of Europe. “The new Transit Custom makes a really positive statement about their business, and looks great on the driveway at the weekend.”

New Colour Edition

Due to go on sale in the spring, the Colour Edition – which is limited to 400 units – offers four distinctive paintjobs. The van can be specced in Race Red, Deep Impact Blue, Frozen White with Jet Black Contracts, and Shadow Black with Race Red contrasts.

All Colour Edition models have a short-wheelbase bodystyle, and the model is powered by the company’s 170hp 2.0-litre diesel unit, with the chassis settings being carried over from the Sport series van.

Transit Custom Sport Series

The Transit Custom Sport Series now offers eight bodystyles, up from the current one-size-fits-all option.

Based on the 290 series model, the van is powered by a 170hp diesel engine and features a new body kit, with body-coloured bumpers, side mouldings and wheelarch extensions.

Inside, the van is kitted out with a partial leather interior trim and the company’s Sync connectivity system.

Due to go on sale in spring 2017, the Sport Series also features upgraded spring and damper settings to improve the steering feel.
