FTA launches Leadership in Carbon Reduction Award

Date: Wednesday, January 13, 2016   |

The Freight Transport Association has launched its 2016 Leadership in Carbon Reduction Award.

The award, which has been running since 2009, aims to recognise efforts being made by companies to make carbon reduction and fuel efficiency a priority within their fleets.

It is open to any LCRS members with more than commercial vehicle on their fleet. An FTA spokeswoman told What Van? there are five LCV-only LCRS fleets and 88 mixed fleets.

The FTA said the award helps to lobby and show the Government the logistics industry is contributing to climate change targets without the need for extra regulation or taxation.

Sponsored by Bridgestone, the award will be judged by the FTA’s chief executive, David Wells, and John Parkinson, director of motoring, freight and London directorate at the Department for Transport.

"Supporting the LCRS Leadership in Carbon Reduction Award is extremely significant for Bridgestone, as is the long-term association with the Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme as a whole,” said Andy Mathias, TBR product & marketing manager at Bridgestone. “We are constantly striving to find ways to measure and reduce carbon emissions in the logistics sector and to offer compelling fuel efficient products to our customers as a result.”

The closing date for entries is 5pm on 11 March. Full details on the award and how to apply can be found here.
