FORS launches van-specific working body

The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) has launched a new working group to shape the future of the association for van operators.
According to FORS, there are now more than 50,000 registered LCVs that are part of the association, with the body saying the new working body “will ensure the needs of LCV operators are fully covered by the scheme”.
At present, the working group comprises of refrigeration company McFT, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Leaseplan, BML Utility Contractors, engineering company Roger Bullivant, Carousel Logistics, joinery manufacturer Martek Contracts, ML Power Systems, David Phillips Furniture and Thales Installation.
At the group’s first meeting, members discussed a number of subjects, including how to further develop the recognition scheme for van operators and how to add more benefits for members. Recommendations to come out of the meeting include producing FORS van driver packs and providing more of a focus on vans in the materials provided to operators.
“We have many light vehicle operators in FORS and it’s important that we provide a platform to discuss how we can develop the scheme for couriers, tradesmen, parcel companies, utility workers and others,” said James Tillyer, FORS manager.
“There was really constructive debate during the first meeting of this new group, and we have some great ideas to consider over the coming months.”
