Toyota gave a European premiere to a revised derivative of its flagship Hilux pick-up the Invincible X in Birmingham. The model features a new front end including a grille with gloss black inserts and a chrome frame plus a new-look front bumper, fog lights and silver under-run. The rear gets a new step and a silver under-run beneath the licence plate while the cabin is finished in black and chrome.

The Invincible X is powered by a 150hp 2.4-litre diesel engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hilux, Toyota also unveiled a 150-run Limited Edition model in two exclusive colours, Scorched Orange and Nebula Blue featuring 18in alloys, side steps and high-over bar. Both new Hilux versions will go on sale in July with prices announced nearer launch.

On a packed stand the manufacturer also debuted the Hilux AT35 conversion by Arctic Trucks and displayed its Land Cruiser Utility Commercial, which hits showrooms in July. Toyota is confident the Land Cruiser will attract customers who previously owned the now discontinued Land Rover Defender.

The tough SUV-derived off-roader features a ladder-frame chassis and is priced from £27,546 in short-wheelbase guise and £28,509 for the LWB model. Both prices exclude VAT.
With a 3.0t towing capacity the Land Cruiser offers respective payloads of 593kg and 756kg, with load volumes of 1.6m3 and 2.2m3.
