Renault Trucks UK has partnered with electric vehicle charger manufacturer EO Charging to offer Master Z.E. buyers smart chargers, with the first 50 being free.

The Master Z.E. is Renault’s fully-electric large van that’s also marketed by Renault Trucks. It has a 76hp electric motor and a 33kWh battery, with a claimed 75-mile range, and costs from £54,900, excluding VAT, but is also eligible for the government’s 20% Plug-in-Van Grant.

The first 50 retail and SME customers to order a Master Z.E. will get a free 22kW EO Genius charger, which was specifically developed for commercial electric vehicles.

It is defined as a ‘smart’ charger because it is connected to EO’s online management platform, so it can be controlled remotely. It also features what EO calls ‘site load management’, to coordinate charging to minimise the load on the grid.

Charlie Jardine, founder and CEO of EO Charging, said: “Businesses are increasingly seeking cleaner, more environmentally-friendly vehicles to address the challenges of increasing legislation and rising customer expectations. We know that charging convenience is a major barrier for operators and so have partnered with Renault Trucks to offer commercial charging solutions for UK customers buying a Master ZE in 2020.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve developed best-in-class charge points that allow business owners to scale their charging infrastructure alongside the growth of their electric fleet. We’re excited to be working closely with Renault Trucks to help more operators introduce electric light commercial vehicles to their fleets.”
