Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has announced that fuel duty will be frozen for 2014.

Towards the end of his Autumn Statement, he said: “I can deliver on that promise: next year’s fuel duty rise will be cancelled.”

He claimed fuel is 20p per litre less under the current Government and £11 less per tank than it would have been had Labour remained in power.

He said: “We inherited from the last Government the hated fuel duty escalator. We’ve cut and then frozen fuel duty.”
